Warm. Intimate. A silken, sensuous voice. Genuine. Soulful and moving.

Crooning his way through catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, J.Russo blends a unique style of indie pop, jazz, folk, and lounge. His musical influences diversify across several genres as well: Paolo Conte, Frank Sinatra, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis.

For the past few years, J. was involved with several musical projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived prior to Las Vegas. As a solo artist, he played gigs in and around the city, promoting his eponymous independent release J.Russo at venues such as The Hotel Utah, SNOB wine bar, and The Starry Plough. He also performed at several private & corporate parties, including two holiday parties for social media company LinkedIn in 2009 and 2011. Also, J. was the opening act at King King in Hollywood for the 2011 premiere of Hunky Dory, a musical based on the David Bowie album released in 1971.

Some of J.’s collaborations include co-founding The RussoJones Bipolar Music Experience with pianist and longtime friend, Renato Jones. In 2011, they independently released From Olin, which J. also helped engineer and co-produce. The album featured space-rock jam and avant-garde overtones influenced by Jones. Also for several years during this time, J. was the trumpeter and background vocalist in the Gomorran Social Aid & Pleasure Club – a Neo-Dixieland, Jazz, Funk, & Blue-Eyed Soul band that wrote, recorded and performed original tunes. In addition to performing regularly around the Bay Area, they also toured in NYC and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. In 2013, they recorded and released the EP, Tiny Filaments.

Prior to San Francisco, J.Russo lived in Denver, Colorado where he performed at the Boulder Outdoor Cinema, entertaining audiences with his music. Additionally, he was one of the featured artists in a singer songwriter showcase at The Walnut Room — “On The Up”, featuring some of Denver’s hottest local talent.
