Crooning his way through catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, J.Russo blends a unique style of alternative, lounge, jazz, and latin. His musical influences diversify across several genres as well: Paolo Conte, Frank Sinatra, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis.
For the past year, J.Russo has been performing in San Francisco and around the Bay Area. He's played at SNOB Wine Bar, Brainwash Cafe, Green Earth Cafe, On The Corner Cafe, The Starry Plough, Iron Springs Pub (Fairfax), Vine Wine Bar (Oakland), Theatre Square District (Petaluma), Grissini Trattoria (Concord), and various open mics throughout the city. He recently was featured in a Mevio Underground music video, a local video production company based in San Francisco.
Prior to San Francisco, J.Russo lived in Denver, Colorado where he performed at the Boulder Outdoor Cinema, entertaining audiences with his music. He has also played in Denver at Scruffy Murphy's, The Mercury Cafe, Studio 554/The Atrium, Cheeky Monk, Martini Ranch, Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, Tivoli, and Swallow Hill. Additionally he was one of the featured artists in a singer/songwriter showcase at The Walnut Room -- "On The Up", featuring some of Denver's hottest local talent.
Not only a singer/songwriter, J.Russo is also a talented multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, producer, and entrepreneur. In addition to singing, he also plays the guitar, trumpet, bass, and keys. After recording and producing his own albums for several years, he opened up Studio LoDo in Denver - an affordable, high-quality, Pro Tools based recording studio alternative catering to solo artists and small bands.
