Crooning his way through catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, J.Russo blends a unique style of indie pop, jazz, folk, and lounge. His musical influences diversify across several genres: Paolo Conte, Frank Sinatra, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis.
For the past few years, J. has been performing in Las Vegas. He entertains diverse audiences, from New Year’s Eve revelers on the Las Vegas strip at the Elara Hilton, to families strolling street-side at Downtown Summerlin. You can find him peforming at local establishments such as World of Beer, Elixir, Millside Tavern, No Regrets Bar, Lake Mead Tavern, 17 South at Tahiti Village, The Lodge Coffeehouse, and Rachel’s Kitchen.
Some of his favorite venues where he’s played: The Hotel Utah, The Starry Plough, Amnesia, Bottom of the Hill, King King Hollywood, Elara Hilton in Las Vegas on NYE, Downtown Summerlin, the Walnut Room in Denver, Beach Bar in St. John Virgin Islands, and improptu busking on the streets of San Francisco and Oakland.
J.’s collaborations include The RussoJones Bipolar Music Experience with pianist and longtime friend, Renato Jones. In 2011, they recorded and co-produced the independent release, From Olin. J. was also a member of the Gomorran Social Aid & Pleasure Club, playing trumpet. The band wrote & performed original tunes, blending the styles of Dixieland, Jazz, Funk, & Blue-Eyed Soul. In addition to performing regularly around the Bay Area, they also toured in NYC and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. In 2013, they recorded and released an EP, Tiny Filaments.
Prior to San Francisco, J.Russo lived in Denver, Colorado where he regularly performed at the Boulder Outdoor Cinema, Additionally, he was one of four featured artists in “On The Up”, a singer songwriter showcase at The Walnut Room featuring some of Denver’s hottest local talent.
